“IF IN DOUBT - REFER TO THE AUSTRALIAN/NEW ZEALAND STANDARD”
"Safety is about awareness. We must all take responsibility for our personal safety and the safety of our colleagues and friends. Taking responsibility means knowing the risks within your work tasks or the tasks you oversee and ensuring those tasks are done correctly and in accordance with Australian/ New Zealand Standards, Environment, Work/Health & Safety Policies and Procedures"
"Static Electricity and Lightning are often ignored as part of the manufacturing process. Apart from obvious static electricity or lightning related issues such as product/process misbehaviour, the presence of uncontrolled static electricity and lightning in hazardous and non-hazardous environments, static electricity and lightning can sometimes go unnoticed and result in serious injuries to personnel and damage to property and equipment"
"Unfortunately it is often the case that the lessons in relation to static electricity and lightning are learnt after an accident has occurred, post incident. The shocking truth is not that static electricity and lightning is the prime culprit for at least two serious fires or explosions in industry worldwide every day of the year. It is that as an industry we continue to ignore static electricity and lightning in our planning as part of manufacturing processes and in hazardous and non-hazardous areas every day"
THINGS TO CONSIDER. DO YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING?
1. Hazardous Area Classification Report 2. Hazardous Area Classification Diagram 3. Static/Lightning Control Plan
"As part of our duty of care Static Electricity Control (SEC) and Lightning Protection EPC (LPEPC) staff will advise you if you are working in an unsafe environment and if required report unsafe acts to management or stop an unsafe act. SEC are obligated under law to report unsafe acts, processes to the relevant electrical regulatory authority and the relevant work health and safety regulatory authority".
“STOP UNSAFE ACTS”. At SEC and LPEPC we want to make sure that “EVERYONE GETS HOME SAFE FROM WORK"
